Lions All Star Cheerleaders are excited to announce upcoming trials for our 2011 Competition Pom Squad. No longer just used for cheering on football teams from the sidelines competitive pom includes fast paced, energetic dance routines, packed with technical tricks and skills and is as much fun to watch as it is to perform!
We will be holding an open class and trial session for ages 14+ from 6 - 7.30pm on the 1 February. Even if youre not sure whether its for you feel free to come along to see what competitive pom is all about!
You do not have to prepare anything in advance and we will teach you everything you need to know on the day.
Although pom/cheer specific experience is not necessary we are looking for:
Flexibility
Strong motions
Great performance energy
Minimum skills double pirouette and 180 degree straddle jumps, great kicks.
Other skills we are looking for:
Fouettes
Leaps
Walk-overs
Cartwheels
..but most of all you must have a great attitude, be dedicated to learning and retaining choreography, and perfecting skills - both in class and on your own time.
Please wear comfortable clothing and jazz/dance shoes (if you have them) and arrive 10 minutes early so that we can begin on time. Sessions will be held in the Games Hall at Wesley College St Kilda Road Senior campus (enter via gate 5 on High Street).
Everyone is welcome and we want the best team possible so spread the word and encourage all dancers to check out the open session.
Training will be held Tuesday evenings 6.15 -7.45pm and the team will compete at both State and National level competitions through out the year.
If you are interested in the Lions Pom squad but unable to attend on 1 February, please contact us and we will endeavour to make alternate arrangements where possible.
