History
The iconic York Mill is located at the entrance to the township of York, Western Australia's oldest inland settlement.
Built in 1892, this historic landmark played a significant role in the development of the town, which thrived on the wheat and grain export industry. The York Mill won awards as early as its first year of production, winning awards as far afield as London and Paris. After operating for more than fifty years as a roller flour mill, production eventually ceased in 1967.
After being sold at auction and restored as a mixed use venue, the York Mill was given a new life. Today it is a very popular destination for local and international tourists, and boasts an exciting mix of quality retailer outlets including giftware, galleries, café and Simon Neville's famous Red Door Gallery.
The York Mill is located at 10 Henrietta Street in York, the oldest inland town in Western Australia, 97 kilometres east of Perth. (Map)
