Situated just 25 minutes from Perth city, with seven acres of colourful and inspirational gardens surrounded by the peaceful Jarrah forest of Carmel, Melville Nurseries breathtaking hills location is a popular tourist attraction.
Its beautiful lake teems with Japanese Koi, and ducks add to the postcard setting. Rambling gardens invite you to meander under rose-covered pergolas, leading you to lawned gardens and a huge variety of roses, perennials and annuals.
As you stroll through the expansive gardens, you will be enticed to rest a while under the crabapple archways as you listen to the sweet sounds of abundant birds.

Rose Heritage Cafe
Set on a hill over looking the seven acres of spectacular display gardens of Melville Nurseries, the Rose Heritage Cafe presents itself with breath taking views. The nursery has been in operation since 1978, whilst the Cafe is still relatively young, opening its doors in 1997. Both business are run by the Melville Family with Bob & Robbie working in the Nursery & Tania in the Cafe.
The Cafe & Nursery are set on the historical Masons Mill site, the first Jarrah mill in Western Australia & the area is said to have been the first settlement immediately out of Perth. The creek that runs through the centre of the Nursery (in the wet seasons), Mundies Brook, was the first creek dammed to catch water. Bickley Reservoir & Victoria Dam, the first dams in Perth, are picturesque historical sites located just a few minutes drive from the gardens & Cafe. Bob Melville has commissioned local artist Barry Evans to paint some beautiful pieces reflecting the history of the area, which can be viewed in the cafe.
The Nursery has fast become a popular spot for Garden Weddings, with Melville Nurseries displaying the largest collection of Roses in the State. Hybrid Teas, Floribundas, Climbers, Standards, Weepers, David Austins, Alister Clark Roses, Guillot Roses to name a few can all be found down in the Nursery.
In Spring, Rose Heritage Cafe have a "Tulip Show"where hundreds of potted tulips are on display. We cater for weddings, birthdays and other functions - please see the Functions menu for further information.
